A week after the Washington Nationals were eliminated from the NLDS, the Nats' owners sent a message out to fans to than them for their support in the 2012 campaign.
' What A Long-A** Week: So... Randy Knorr and Davey Johnson did discuss walking Pete Kozma to force the St. Louis Cardinals to hit for their closer and... uh, yeah. Johnson explained his thinking in an article by Washington Post writer Adam Kilgore earlier this week, saying that he didn't want to walk the bases loaded and risk having Drew Storen walking in the go-ahead run. Knorr also talked about the Strasburg shutdown in today's big story. The other big news, Sean Burnett had surgery to remove bone spurs from his elbow. There's a mutual option for the left-hander for next season. Will the reliever be back in the Nats' bullpen next season? As for the 2012 campaign, the Nationals' owners sent out the following public statement yesterday, thanking fans for their support as the Nats made the first postseason appearance by a D.C.-based team since 1933:
