Everyone remembers 19-year-old Washington Nationals' first baseman Bryce Harper's first stolen base, right? He'd been hit by Philadelphia Phillies' lefty Cole Hamels and had gone first-to-third™ on a Jayson Werth single before timing Hamel's move to first and stealing home on a throw over. Philly first baseman Laynce Nix rushed a throw home to catcher Carlos Ruiz but it arrived too late to catch the hard-charging Nats' outfielder. Harper hit his first career home run off San Diego Padres' starter Tim Stauffer in the nation's capital on May 14th. The 2010 no.1 overall pick collected his first walk-off hit in the bottom of the 12th inning of a June 5th game against the New York Mets in Nationals Park. After going 2 for 4 this afternoon and hitting his 11th double of the year, the Nats' rookie outfielder has a .286/.367/.497 line in the first 215 plate appearances of his professional career. Will he get to make his first All-Star appearance this year too? Cole Hamels voted for him.
The left-hander whose purpose pitch to Harper's back was meant to teach him a lesson of some sort told MLB.com's Phillies beat writer Todd Zolecki (@ToddZolecki) yesterday that he had voted for the Nats' outfielder in the player voting for the 2012 All-Star Game which is being held on July 10th in Kansas City's Kauffman Stadium:
Cole Hamels came over and told us he voted for Bryce Harper for the All-Star Game. #notaclownvotebro

When Davey Johnson was told about Hamels voting for Harper, he told reporters, including the Washington Times' Amanda Comak (@AComak) that he'd voted for Harper too:
Told Bryce Harper he had Cole Hamels' All-Star vote. "I voted for him, too," he said. "And you can tweet that."

Bryce Harper's not currently among the Top 15 vote-getters in the National League (and there are no players from the NL East's 1st Place Nats currently in the top five at any position), so he'll have to either be voted in by the players, coaches and managers or he'll have to get on the ballot for the Final Vote which I predict he'd definitely win in the latest edition of Nationals Lunchbox with CSNWashington.com's Chase Hughes (@ChaseHughes) and DIstrict Sports Page's Dave Nichols (@NationalsDSP):
