Before tonight the talk from D.C. GM Mike Rizzo and Washington Nationals' manager Davey Johnson was that 32-year-old sinker-balling right-hander Chien-Ming Wang was struggling with mechanical issues that have led to the two-time 19-game winner giving up 20 runs on 37 hits in seven games, four starts and 23.2 IP so far this season. Wang suffered a hamstring injury late in Spring Training that sidelined him until May 25. The seven-year veteran struggled as he was moved in and out of the rotation, trading places with Ross Detwiler, but now he's been placed on the DL with what is reportedly a hip issue:
As surmised earlier, #Nats have placed Chien-Ming Wang on 15-day DL with R hip strain. Move retro to July 1.

25-year-old Nats' reliever Henry Rodriguez was activated from the DL tonight, taking Wang's place on the roster as the Nationals announced via Twitter just before game time tonight:
OFFICIAL: #Nats reinstate RHP Henry Rodriguez and place RHP Chien-Ming Wang on 15-Day DL
' Washington Nationals (@Nationals) July 3, 2012
Rodriguez walked five and K'd 7 in 7.0 scoreless innings of work in the Nats' system as he rehabbed an injured finger on his pitching hand that he reportedly slammed in a bathroom door a few weeks back.
